A New America

The United States Capitol has just been raided by a riot of angry protestors. It is all the more important that we address the polarization afflicting America, and call for more peace and unity -- not hate and division. The America that our founding fathers envisioned was an inclusive America -- an America for all, no matter race, creed, color, or class.
COVID-19 has all but radically transformed Ramadan, the holy month of fasting for Muslims. It has required muslims to socially distance from friends and families and even worse -- it has prevented many people who have devoted their lives to saving up for the pilgrimage from doing the Hajj in Medina, Saudia Arabia.

The world is much better because we have lived through a year of trials and tribulations. And yet, we are standing now at the end of a very real tunnel, grasping the light that is the vaccine we will be inncoluted by. What seemed a monumental task in March has become a normalcy in many households -- a remote classroom, a virtual business, and a modern family.

Farewell, Andrew Kishore

Andrew Kishore transcends all barriers of space and time -- he is, by every measure, the Michael Jackson (minus the controversy) of Bangladesh. At the most fundamental level, he transformed Bengali Music. But that's at the lowest level; at the highest level, Andrew Kishore was "A People's Man" -- a Servant of the poletrait, singing of their plights, toils, and hardships.

National Protest Developments

Brooklyn and Manhattan have been the center of most of the protests occuring in New York City. Queens has also recently erupted in protests driven by the death of George Floyd. Protests have recently escalated even further, reaching into violent territory: police have literally driven cars into protestors; protestors have lit police cars on fire, in return, and the whole city seems to be descending into the stages of preliminary stages of anarchy.

This is one of the densest regions in the entire world. Back in the '70s, anyone with two sticks and a hand could call Dharavi home. By the 1970s, Dhavari's massive population earned it the dubious nickname of "The Biggest Slum in Asia". WIth over a million inhabitants working night and day, Dharavi is a place of passionate work, and passion leads to hope.
