The midterm covers #1 (Place Value) to #11 (Fractions). Please watch the videos and study as much as possible to get 100 on every assignment. Once you get 100 on every assignment, you will be prepared for the midterm.

We will meet twice a week: Monday and Wednesday from 6 PM to 8 PM. I will teach both ways: synchronous and asynchronous. From 6 to 7 PM, students will watch the video tutorial. New video will be posted by 6 PM every Monday and Wednesday. We will have synchronous class from 7 PM to 8 PM every Monday and Wednesday via ZOOM. I will use a Hands-On approach to teach you all the major topics of Math 01. To emulate a real-classroom experience, I will be frequently using my two sons, Refath and Soborno in my hands-on activities, all of which will be uploaded to this page. You are expected to check this page on a daily basis and watch the videos. We meet every Monday & Wednesday from 6-8 PM. Our first meeting is on Monday, August 31, 2020. The link will be posted on the top of the page.

Basics: Math 01 is an introductory mathematics course, in which you are expected to master the following 6 topics:

  1. Whole Numbers
  2. Signed Numbers
  3. Fractions and Mixed Numbers
  4. Decimals and Percents
  5. Ratio and Proportion
  6. Toward Algebra
You must spend at least 4 Hours a week, but there 0 Credits offered for this course.

Learning Objective:You are expected to have proficiency in the arithmetic of signed numbers, fractions, mixed numbers and decimals. Proficiency in the use and application of percents, ratios and proportions. Ability to solve simple linear equations.

Comments: I know this is an unusual semester, and it will not be easy to complete this course. But at the same time, this offers you a remarkable oppurtunity: In 1665, a young 23 year old Cambridge student decided not to fear the Great Plague of London that killed over 500,000 English people. Instead he stayed focused on education because he believed that education is the best weapon to defeat all evils. That paid off: the same year he invented calculus to lay the foundation of physics. I hope that this Coronavirus pandemic will create the next Sir Isaac Newton. ~ Rashidul Bari
